Arrow Soda blasting ( Farrow System ) a 37 Bertram

This is some of the most expensive Bottom Paint on the market today - each gallon weights about 40 lbs.

Bertram Blue = 3 parts Blue paint & 1 part Black paint !

Is that a hard bottom paint? Looks like it from what I can read on the can.

My question is why would you go to all the trouble (and $$$) to soda-blast and barrier coat, just to put on a paint that is going to build up and need to be stripped again in a few years? Does he have a special reason, or is it just because he thinks it's the best paint available?
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

I agree......that why I went with Micron 66 versus the Micron VC Offshore. The soda blast, sand and prep is not only very expensive but very time consuming. I went with a system that would ablate away and then can be re-coated in 2-3 years.

what i dont get is why the "carolina coat" system that many larger sportfish was using seems to have died off a bit...for those who dont know the carolina coat uses VC offshore, wet sanded and burnished on the hull bottom with CSC ablative from the chine up. each year you repaint the waterline with fressh CSC to minimize slime. the VC offshore covering 90% of the bottom gets pressurewashed and touched up each year. For seasonal use we easily got 3 seasons on the VC before lightly sanding and recoating, wetsanding and burnishing. The VC offshore is a much much harder and slicker paint that any ablative - thus less drag = more speed and more efficiency....
