what i dont get is why the "carolina coat" system that many larger sportfish was using seems to have died off a bit...for those who dont know the carolina coat uses VC offshore, wet sanded and burnished on the hull bottom with CSC ablative from the chine up. each year you repaint the waterline with fressh CSC to minimize slime. the VC offshore covering 90% of the bottom gets pressurewashed and touched up each year. For seasonal use we easily got 3 seasons on the VC before lightly sanding and recoating, wetsanding and burnishing. The VC offshore is a much much harder and slicker paint that any ablative - thus less drag = more speed and more efficiency....
