Buddy I owe you nothing. Business is business and I am not in the habit of paying contractors to bid on my work. You make it sound as if Bobby Sullivan was doing the work, but it was just a couple of guys that do this on the side that were using his shop. This is not how it went down and I regret having to respond to this. You obviously have hurt feelings over this and for that I am sorry. Why don't you pick up the phone?

Sounds like sour grapes to me, sometimes you win sometimes you don't, how you handle it says alot. Don't agree with you Highjacking the thread to express your displeasure. Maybe he was more comfortable with Bubby than you! It's business..

I called him. I think we are cool. Just a whole lot of miscommunication. Ron really seems to be a good guy.

Milky,
You may be right and then you may be wrong!!! Highjacking... NOT... and I can see you haven't been on this forum long, but you have your opinion too... Yes, it is business and I apologize, if some think I am out of line. And I hope that all works out with this refit... I think in the long run after a conversation with Fritz that there was some mis-communication and I will take the blame for that. I think that Fritz is a fine person and wish the best for him.I was excited to be part of this project and was certainly hopeful for the work... I certainly think Crown Boatworks will also do a fine job.............Fritz, I hope you will continue this thread and show the progress as it happens!

Status report

Yesterday we pulled the port engine and dropped all the running gear. I said it before and I will say again I am glad I did not try to move the rig by water as the port engine is seized and the starboard shaft was cracked where the wheel seats, but no matter the engines & running gear were being replaced anyway. Bit of a bitch dropping the struts as there was enough 5200 on them to seal a corn crib. Anyway, some adhesive softener and a bit of patience and off they came.

Some interesting finds- The rudder board is more rot than wood, but we already knew that. Also, somebody did a real hatchet job {And I mean hatchet} on the frames below the port engine and this will need repair before new power can be bedded. The salon was built around the main Monel fuel tanks and I think these will need to be cut out.

Anyway, some stripping of hull hardware and she will be ready to have the paint blasted off.

Bubby, where are the pics?

Is this the same boat that used to fish the Atlantic City Marlin and Tuna Tournaments? It looks a lot like the 40' Chris craft we used to have.

Some pics

Pic 1- Big block Ford 460 from the Port side, well it use to be. More rust than motor & gear now. Parts anybody?

Pic 2- Bridge pod. New gauges, new finish, new controls and she will look good as new.

Pic 3- I will let this pic speak for itself.

Pic 4- The teak deck is original. The planks are still more than 3/8 inch thick. Man they used to build them. Sanding, fresh caulking, and it will look brand new. The covering boards, however, are trashed and need to be replaced.

Pic 5- What has happened to lower interior? What a mess! The port side over & under bunks will be need to be reinstalled. The galley wil need to be replaced on the starboard side. The shower & head have been removed and need to be replaced in the forward area. A new head liner needs to be installed with custom lighting. The floor will be sanded and well varnished.

Pic 6- When I was considering moving the boat by water, {What was I nuts?} a well known boatyard was asked to stop the leaks with some temporary patching and this was their solution---pieces of plastic secured with screws and 5200 Blahhhhhhhhh.

Pic 7-The forward deck has an approx. 2' x 2' soft spot that will need to be cut out and repaired. This area used to shine so well you could see yourself and it will once again.
