Bubbie is somewhere between Charleston and Jacksonville, so here are a couple of shots of the boat, hauled out at Chesapeake Cove Marina in Deltaville.

Just about 40'. She came out of Rybovich's yard in 1964. The hull [sides & bottom] are a few years older and built by Chris Craft. The boat is not a Chrisovich in the truest sense of the word as most of those were early seventies boats. If you look at a 38 Rybo you will note the bow is more square and the boat does not have near as sharp as an entry or flare as this hull, but aside from that most everything is Rybovich. My grandfather & grandmother new John Rybovich and had fished their boats, but were not exactly happy about the ride so grandpop checked around and found this hull.

As I understand, there were less than 10 of these hulls built and the design had to be shelfed over litigation with another builder about who's design it really was. I should try to confirm this. At least two of these were complete rebuilds by Rybovich. One was the Sweet Pea and the other was the Leprechaun both being Cape May boats.

Imagine the equipment on the boat and its only 1964---Spreader Ouriggers when alot of boats still had fiberglass poles, loran A, an open array radar, paper recording depth machine, autopilot, and a UHF radio that transmitted so far fines from the FCC would regularly arrive in the mail.

Anyway, she rides like a Buick Roadmaster and billfish had a habit of trying to crawl up her exhaust pipes. We are very excited about putting her back in service. Two layers of glass, fresh paint, new power, a rewire, some interior work, teak work, new chairs, riggers, and electronics are on the list.

Great story behind the boat, I love the lines and the open bulkhead as well , what kind of power are you puttin in her, I guess you will be beefin her up for more hp? I'm sure she is goin be a thing of beauty when she's done, I love the older customs !! Good Luck and keep us updated with pics. as you go !!

Yes I think LOA is a bit longer than length on the water and that is the original Hull. Great research. Note the short bridge overhang & square bridge on your pic as opposed to the rounded flybridge and extended bridge overhang of the Leprechaun. These are just a few of the rebuilds that Rybovich did. I did not know there were 14 made, but I was four years old when the baot came back from Rybovich and about 18 the last time I saw the boat. Thanks for the pic and research.

Hey Fish skipper, Bobby told me about this project. Thought it was going through. Fritz had one helluva builder with alot of knowledge by using Bobby and Troy. Hope it goes well. I guess we will see.
