#1 Croaker Hunter
Simrad NSE
Anybody have feedback on how good this system is and how well the structure scan works. I know the structure scan is for swallow water < 200ft. I think it might work well fishing diving around wrecks.
Thanks

Simrad
I would love to hear some opinions on this as well, I am trying to decide if I will use Simrad on my new boat. It looks really nice, but would like to hear some real world experiences.
Thanks,
Tom

I installed an NSE12 with 10kw radar and 1000w/600w transducer 7 months ago. I do not have the structure scan, but I am extremely happy with the performance. The screen is highly viewable in sunlight, the depth sounder records bottom down to 4200 ft, far syrpassing older 1000watt units I have used before. The unit is extremely user friendly, with many dedicated keys. i could go on about the ease of features, but suffice it to say it is the most user friendly unit I have experienced. The radar has been exceptional at picking up even the smallest amount of bird activity, and the zoom feature is very fast in the plotter mode. My only complaint with the unit is that it only uses Navionics charts, and those charts are not available in the Platinum series for any areas on the west coast of the Americas south of Cabo San Lucas MX. Navionics has been promising to provide that coverage for some time now and has yet to do so. Consequently I can not take advantage of the 3D and advanced functions of the NSE.
I also operate a Fureno NavNet 3d, and have found the Simrad to be equal or superior in performance in many functions. It does not have the ability to provide differt r4ange radar echos on one unit as the Navnet does., of course it is less expensive. I highly recommend the NSE as long as you do not live on the West coast south of Cabo.
