Rocks and Blues, sweet ride you got there. I really like the Privateers. You don't get to see many of them around here. They're built like tanks!! Are their prices raising every year like the other boat companies? I here that they are reasonable, but the options add up quick!?
i bought it used so I can not comment on the new prices. i know i had a couple questions and a gentlemen from privateer emailed back the next day. in addition to answering my question he told me how they keep records of every boat they make and he told me all about the original owner, where he fished, and that he targeted tunas.
runs real solid. great ruff-weather boat, i love the sharp deadrise. very utilitarian, but we do not plan on spending the night aboard. i hope to get a few things fixed and cleaned up this summer. so far my numbers are tops out at 52mph and cruises effortlessly of 38 burning 12 gph.
i was really looking for a pilot house because i like to boat in the rain. work keeps me busy so when i have time to get away i don't care if it is cold and or rainy i want to get on the water.
megabyte is the one to ask... anything about boat maintainance or ugrades, kevin knows it. i have followed his projects and upgrades for a while on other boards. you wont find a cleaner boat anywhere.
I like to cruise the ClassicMako and ClassicSeacraft forums, because the guys there are the real heros of the "fix-em-up" set. I do 'fixen' to my abilities, but those guys are the shiznit! I just try to apply what they are doing.
I'm a safety kind of guy too, so that enters into my boat 'alteration' projects...
Detailing? Oh he!! yea... I started out back in the 60's doing that with cars and bikes, and I could make any ride shine...
When I moved to boats, many of the same detailing lessons still held true. The tools were a little different, but the basics are the same.
I'm a freak for detailing, and I never feel that my ride is 'there' yet. Maybe given enough time...
Now then... I'll trade detailing secrets for fishing secrets anyday! That is why I'm here...
Ready to go Brian?
