I have the pilothouse so I am not sure it is worth the expense after the sale of the MayCraft. Also my boat also tows well behind a 1/2 ton, my motor has been perfect for 360 hours (If i get another boat I run the risk of getting a lemon) and the general layouts are similar. Judges just have the little things that make it a little sweeter

I was down at the Judge factory 2 weeks ago looking at the 27 center console. The 27 pilot was right next to it. Both boats were very nice for the money. Any idea how these boats ride??? Would you consider them offshore boats??? Canyon capable???? They have the range, but seem pretty light for the sloppy stuff. Any thoughts??? Where are you planning to use yours??? inshore, bay, Ocean, offshore???? I like to hit Hudson Canyon a handful of times a season, just wondering if the boat is right for that. Thanks.

27 Judge

The 27 Judge is going to tow the same as the MayCraft behind a 1/2 ton truck. Judge uses Hondas unless the customer wants something else. Honda stands behind their engines 200%, so a lemon engine should not be a concern. It is just a matter of if you want to step up to the extras the Judge offers. They are very good boats at a very good price and you can have it exactly the way YOU want it, not just what the builder is producting.
Go for it !

I am a bay and near shore fisherman who generally fishes from South Jersey to the CBBT chasing striped bass. However My father has an 01 Judge 27 Downeast w/ twin 130 Hondas that he runs out of Avalon NJ. I think it is a great boat. He has run the boat all the way to just inside the Baltimore canyon catching bluefin tuna and yet it is a great inshore drift or slow troll boat. He burns about 40%less fuel than his buddy with a 28 Parker w/ f250's on the same trip. The Parker with the deep v may ride a little better at faster speeds but my father will take the fuel savings and slow down a tad. Besides 75% or better of his fishing is inside of 30 miles from the beach. How much faster are you going to get there when the runs are less than 30 miles with a real deep v and is it worth the extra 40% $$ to get there a little faster? You have to decide what you are looking for. Bill builds an excellent boat made of the top of the line composite materials. Being that he is a small builder, I think his attention to detail is more controlled and he is better able to support his buyers than most the companies out there.

Buy the boat!!!
There is no better feeling than getting the exact boat you want and every time you see it you love it even more. Get it. It's a bad ass boat.
