we had a small discussion about warranty repairs...boats are not like cars when it comes to service...don't believe all the dealer claims and the sales person's claims too...
here's the problem...i gotta shamrock at the shop,it's a '00 246,the boat's got incredibly low use,it hasn't been used for a few season,as per owner...the hull is actually broken,in the forward section, not good,it's broken and the stringers are detached from the hull...it's a real mess we've got here...i had to cut the cabin deck up to gain more access...well...upon cutting up the cabin deck,it discovered a piece of the bulkhead,it was cut off at the factory and left there-nice huh ?? the bulkhead is also short about 1"...the bulkhead is atached using a lite weight piece of 3/4oz build up matt-it has torn...the stringers are actually loose on the hull, they were never laminated into the hull...the stringers were lightly glassed to the hull, the glass has torn loose...this boat was this way from the factory,it was not built correctly...it's a wonder this hull didn't fail long ago,due to the flexing of the hull's bottom...
now,i took matters into my own hands and called the factory,i spoke to rose@palmer marine-shamrock boats.she asked me to email pictures, which i did.a few days later,i was contacted by jenifer, from bladen composites, she explained to me,the boat was out of warranty, and nothing would be done,i stressed the point the boat was built poorly from the factory and the light use the boat has had,i asked for a little consideration, she assured me,dan the plant manager, would work with me on this and he would get back to me the next day...next day never happened,i called bladen,i was told he was tied up and he would get back to me,never happened...3 times this happened...i called palmer marine again,i asked to speak to mr palmer-the owner...what do you know,he called me later...i explained the situation,he told me to give him a week and he'll have an answer for me...i gave the gentleman, almost 2 weeks...ten days to be exact...today was time to call again...i actually got bo palmer on the phone![]()
not a good thing though...mr palmer recalled talking to me,however,he assured me,he told me he would get back to me much later,2 to 3 months he would have an answer
can you imagine this,2 to 3 months...well...we all know i speak my mind, right?? i explained to bo,he assured me 1 week,we reached a sticking point...truth of the matter is,bo palmer is not a man of his word, the gentleman has "selective memory"...2 to 3 months ?? you believe that??
i tell everyone this for a reason, not to trash shamrock boats, truth is,i never did a structual repair on an older shamrock hull, this is the first one,i tell you guys this because,be careful what you buy,you may have a problem,if you do,you want a company to stand up and take care of the problem and solve the issue...how many of you guys would want to wait to get an answer on what they're gonna do in 2 to 3 months ???
with all that,i would never reccomend anyone purchase a new or still under warranty shamrock-sorry,but that's how i see it...if a company doesn't stand behind their product, don't buy it..."f" shamrock,"f" bo palmer...anyone wanna see pictures of a really "f"'d up boat ???
