Thumbs up

I have no inside info about the purchase of Shamrock, but if Bo is a good business man, he bought the assets of the company, but not it's liabilities. That is commonly done, not to weasel out of valid warranty claims, but mainly for liability issues. For example, if the boat in this case sunk due to hull failure caused by poor construction and the boat owner or others died, the liability could be millions of $$$ even though the new owner of Shamrock may have done absolutely nothing wrong.
With that said, there is probably no liability on the part of Bo and the "new" Shamrock, therefore; any action he takes is OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF HIS HEART! It may make good business sense to assist in the repair of a poorly made hull but that's his decision alone to make.
You wouldn't convince me to make that decision in your favor by calling me a f**king a**hole and berating the help. When you ask someone to do you a FAVOR out of the goodness of their heart, it is your obligation to wait until they are dam good and ready to do so; that's life in the big city.
Again, I have no inside info, but Bo probably has bigger fish to fry running a boat manufacturing facility that has just moved, is in a crappy boat selling market, and has just acquired Albin, too. Jimmy, I know this a a major issue to you and your customer but many business owners have other issues too, like meeting a big payroll or paying their taxes.
It seems to me the only real bitch here is Bo didn't respond quickly enough to suit Jimmy. I don't believe Bo's ever been given the opportunity to state exactly what he will do to assist, if anything.
You have to give Jimmy credit for really going to bat for his customer, but he did him a disservice by going too far. As previously stated, if Jimmy would lay down his battle ax, there is possibly still a reasonable solution at hand, especially in light of the fact that Bo HAS assisted others, even when not obligated to do so.
I'd like to personally thank Jimmy for the great tips and insight he's offered on FTC and I hope he continues once he's by this.

Shoot, talk about waiting. I'm still waiting for Jimmy to call me back from last year when I wanted some wiring done on my boat. I talked to him on a Friday, he said he would call me the beginning of the following week to set up to meet at the boat on Wednesday or Thursday. That was like last June, so I figure 2 or 3 months isn't bad.

Nope no problem now. Got it fixed. I don't beg someone to do work.

I just expect a phone call back when someone says they will call. Isn't that what you were saying about this guy Bo.

Ok I'm going to defend Jimmy again and probably step in it!
I called him about a year or so ago just for info about maybe putting a bracket on my mako. Talking to him and reading his posts here has convinced me otherwise. Many (surely not all) on here critisizing him have probably never endevored to do more work on their rig other than wash and wax not to mention paint, varnish, clean the teak(oh yeah they get somebody to do that!). I've owned, maintained and overhauled/rebuilt every boat I've owned because most of the time I did'nt have $$ to have a yard do it.(Read Barta's book about his first boats) IMO, I have always felt if you are going to call yourself a Capt. you should be capable and knowledgable about the your(or the owner's ) boat and it's systems. I've fished next to Capts that never have lifted a finger to work on the rig and grew up working for those that did it all. Not everybody is all that skilled and knowing when to get help is a positive thing also. Just because this guy who now owns Shamrock is a good businessman does not make him a good boat builder or exonerate him from some resposibility for a floating junkyard bearing the company name he bought!IMO some of you Capts? should spend more time in the yard learning what needs to be before getting underway. Breath in some resin/styrine fumes get some on your hands and clothes(forever) or go down and get some lessons from a pro like Jimmy.

I wasn't putting down his work or his knowledge. I was just pointing out that yelling and screaming and calling people names because they didn't call back in the time you thought was enough, somethimes isn't the way to do things. I have heard nothing but good things about Jimmy's work. But, I can tell you from experience with people and how they think and react. Yelling at someone, and demeaning them in front of others, usually gets the opposite response of what you are looking for. I know Jim, you can call me names, want to beat me up and call me a menace to society. But this is just my opinion. I didn't call you and yell at you and call you a fu(&ing A$$#o!e when you didn't call me back. If I did, would you have done the work or told me to go F myself? Probably the F myself part. So before you go off the handle next time, sit back count to 10 and think will my actions get what I am looking for, or will they make me look like a immature hot head.

And to the person insuating that I can't work on my own boat,Try again. I called to have stuff done that I had no time for, since I work 3 jobs.

I wish this would get over already. I've never met Jimmy but lots of folks have highly recommended his work and I wouldn't hesitate to give him my pride and joy to work on. He's also been more than generous with his hard earned experience to whomever asks. Anyone can have a bad hair day as the admiral calls them. (Especially her)

Capt Bob your not in a place that some of us are fixing stuff ...

Yep I have gotten down to totaly cussing out people also! It's because in 2008 people are still not owning up to the responsability that that comes with the job when you take it! People run from confrontation and they hide behind lawyers, and say "I can't talk to you anymore because you said a cuss word." I am way to tired of American men not standing up to any responsible act (as in you picking up a phone again in this case...) did you even ever call the man back??? anyway this boating thing is fun nowdays and dealers need to stay afloat boat builders go lighter and less expensive and some workers think we'll leave off the mat and 1 layer of biaxle..sounds like what happened at some yards... but have respect for the man that has to fix it and has the "nuts" to say something! Didn't some military guy say 'Nuts' once??? I hope your terminals are corroded and green!
