Jimmy, I SWEAR I rinse the crap out of the trailer every time I use it - I think I'm the reason Lake Okeechobee is so low. And I use a lot of Star brite corrosion protector spray (I get it for free, so I use it "liberally"). That being said, I am still expecting to see rust when I pull the wheels off.

I already have the 6-prong plug, so that's checked off the list. The brakes are not electric, so there's one more.

the 6 terminal plug, what it does is,apply power to the solenoid, this closes the brake fluid port, there fore the brakes won't activate when the vehicle is dropped into reverse...the brakes are hydraulic, not electric...if the brakes lock up when you back the trailer up,you need to check the solenoid to be sure it's operating properly...it's not common for the trailer brakes to lock up-if they lock up,there's a problem...

This has nothing to do with the trailer thread, but I wanted to tell you that star bright hull cleaner is the shizzle! Doesn't make me woozy like the Mary Kate product

I use Kroil fro Kano Labs to loosen rust. spray it on, let it sit for a day. Everything removes very easy, no banging no heat.
Work smart not hard.

Thanks, Rob.
Did you see John Grevikis using it on ShipShape TV? He had a nasty rust stain inside his Boston Whaler and this stuff just ate it up.

tracking down Kroil now... Thanks for the tip.

Do you know how it compares to "Buster" penetrating oil?

I'll be trying "Buster" on the brakes, the rep swears it'll cut through the rust in 5 minutes.

Rust

P B Blaster will cut through the rust also. I have brake pads and the actuator (I think that's how you spell it) was rusted closed or open which ever held the brake pad, freed it up in less than 5 minutes. Then sprayed Corosion(sp) X on the parts and have not had a problem since since the first of April). Both good products (disclaimer stuff).
BUT then again Jawz12 seems to know quite a bit about the boating sh1t as he works with it.

My Jeep Cherokee Overland "fixed" the brakes. I hooked up the traielr and gave it a good tug. Bingo - free-rolling tires.

However, the brakes lock up tighter than a Democrat spending their own money on poor people when I put it in reverse. Go figure. The boat is now at a stack & rack, so the trailer can sit and be a project to be tackled later - much later.

I did use the Buster spray on a rusted padlock. It opened right up about 7 seconds later. Good stuff.
