Sealand Sanipump Replacement
The boss accidentally turned his head overboard discharge pump on thinking it was the fish box macerator. Good thing I keep the valve closed as it was left on for a week while I was back home. Well the pump motor has ceased to operate and is in need of replacement. Ordered a new pump and will tackle the project next week. Looked at the pump and if I must pull the whole housing and everything out it is going to be a serious pain plus a big mess. I hope to be able to pull the pump motor and bellows assembly only and put in just those new parts. Any experience or thoughts?
The wonderful people at Sealand don't seem to get the customer support business. Multiple contacts through the internet and phone with 0 responses.
Thanks for the help.

You can just replace the parts you mention although it will be messy. If access is ok replacing the whole unit will be easier. 2 hoses, 2 wires, 4 screws. Open the overboard discharge to relieve any pressure. If you use some heat on the hoses they come off very easy. When you get the hoses off you can put them up to your mouth and blow the hoses out to keep the mess down if you want.

Thanks for the advice. The boat is a 35 Cabo and access to the pump is tight. The only reason I thought of just replacing the parts is if I pull the pump off the holding tank what ever does not get sucked out during the dockside pump-out will run into the bilge and be even more difficult to clean. There is not much soft hose between the holding tank and pump housing, maybe 3-4" or so, which is going to make it difficult to tug on. The down current side of the pump has less than a foot before the hose goes through a bulkhead. Cabo obviously didn't plan on pump service when engineering space to hold the system. I'll pass on blowing in the hoses, but you can come do it if you want. Thanks again for your help.
