A friend of mine wants to sell me his 2000 Seadoo Rx. It has a 951cc engine, 135hp, and about 130 hours. It has only been used in fresh water and hasn't had any problems. I know nothing about waverunners so I thought I would ask your opinions. Should I run away and get something with a 4stroke motor? How long will these things last?? I have no idea the kind of life expectancy I can expect from the Seadoo RX or any other model for that matter. Anything I should pay attention to when looking it over? idk, but I'm hoping someone here does! Thanks in advance for the help. Tight lines

Run away!!!!! I have been a boat dealer for 26 years and every time we get involved in one it cost us $. buy something with a propeller and not a impeller you we be much happier in the long run .

I know we hate seadoo's when we're fishing (god knows I do!) but how much trouble are we looking at at? If u're handy with outboard engines, can u figure waverunners out? I'm not looking to replace my fishing boat! just looking for another toy and its pretty inexpensive to get into, 3K. should i still run? thanks for the suggestions guys!
They are a lot of fun, can be costly just like a boat and not that difficult to work on and maintain. Just get a service manual for whatever model you buy.
I owned a Seadoo XP with that same motor. Biggest P.O.S. ever. It would run like a scalded dog the couple hours of the year it worked. I had mine for 3 years and in that amount of time it stayed in the shop for 2 of them and winterized for half of the other year. The motor blew up twice and one time the mechanic was taking it for a test run after he "fixed it". Seadoo was also sued for that exact same motor in that time period as well.
