Boat: 35 bruno
Home Port: montauk
Occupation: commodities trader
fished on one of these in st. john usvi in nov. think it was a 34 with 315 yanmar power. boat ran very well, 26-28 kt cruise. fished in 20 25 kt winds 4-5 ft seas-a genuinely snotty day.boat handled it well, not alot of pounding. 2 complaints- engine noise a good deal more than a twin 4 stroke 31 contender, and hatches slamming down after every landing off a wave made the boat sound like it was coming apart. both are fixable with better sound insulation and dog down hatches.

Boat: 27 Oceanmaster, 18 Mako Flats
Seavee was on our list for an inboard boat a couple years back. As they said above, engine noise gets pretty bad. The console had to be further back to accomodiate the enigine. We ended up with a 27 Ocean Master. It has a 256 Steyr Diesel. Cruise at 28 knots burning 7.8 gal/hour. Trolling, we are burning 0.5-0.7 gal/hour. We have a jackshaft to an outdrive. If you have never taken a ride in an inboard CC, well, you should.

Notice the engine box....it makes it a lot quieter and you don't loose all that storage under the console.

Yeah, like bobfish said, engine noise is alot more than outboards, insulation probably would be a good idea, if the boat doesnt have it. I dont have any issues with my hatches, all stay put even in the slop.
