Or any other high end custom Carolina. Are they worth the additional expense??? Are they that much (about twice $$) better?
now before you get your thong all wedged up your ass, this is a question not a comment.

I am not quite following. Twice as much $ as what? Are you telling me a Scully twice as much as the other 3? (I wouldn't know what they go for) Scully is out of Business anyway, as far as a new build goes.
talkin bout top end $$$ wise...dont forget Bayliss.....or Miller Marine
Well, there is a 2007 60' Sculley asking 1.8, all 4 boats have the same power. So I would think that either, A) the 2009 Sculley is way over priced, B) the cost of materials may have gone up in the last 2 to 3 years, latest greatest electronics package, etc. as to justify the additional 2 mil.
I lean towards a combo of A and B, more so A. Better to compare the 07 Sculley with the 07 Ricky and the 06 Mann.
I think I know what the OP is asking craigwill is asking is a small maybe single shed boat operation being built by carolina watermen that might not work year round on boats, because they are making money fishing also, Can they compete or is the quality as good as the jarret, spencer type with in house design team and fancy offices. Here is the best answer I can give if this is the question. the cheaper carolina boats if built under the same general carolina theory will be just as good structurally. Sometimes better. if you look at the help the name brands are using? they dont look exactly local to the area to me??se hablo espan you know what I mean. The big difference was for years you got a pretty well built carolina boat at a much cheaper price the a $$$$ rybo, merrit $$$$$ palmbeach type finish. was the trim and interior. Also those little extras that make a boat cost a lot more but not catch more fish like granite counter tops and vacufluh head. Its what the customer wants and sometimes they expect? whether they are willing to pay for it or not?
No, a sculley is definetly not worth any extra expense. The reason they went out of business is because they couldn't keep the boats under budget. If you really like the sculley boats you should check out Freedom boatworks which is mostly the same crew from the old sculley shop.
That 64' Scully is way over priced for this (or any) market......won't sell at that price.......no way.
As far as expense goes, it all depends on how they are rigged and what engines are dropped in em........my buddies new rig, a 63' Weaver "Salty", is rigged to the "T", and in my opinion, is one the best boats money can buy. The side scanning sonar unit costs in excess of $50k alone, not to mention all the other state of the art electronics and screens, 52" LCD with JL audio throughout with RTI integrated system, full tower ($120K), custom tower seat and black paint ($10K), etc, etc, etc.........all the extras add up FAST. Brand new 63' bare boat carolina (not rigged) from a reputable builder should cost around $2.0MM plus of minus $100k. Just my $0.02
