Just had my boat hull painted and wouldn't you know it on my first tuna run out in the dark I hit something red that didn't show up on radar. I am betting it was a lobster pot. I now have a small red streak that runs for about 3 feet from front to back down the hull that is lauging at soap and the awlgrip wax. The streak is supeficial meaning it didn't scrape, it just marked the hull like a black sneaker would on a white deck. Anyone have any solution?

I have read posts on this topic but have yet to hear of any one solution (other than repaint) that will not cause damage in the long term. I have also heard mineral spirits works well but that seems scary to put thinner on a custom painted boat.

    Thanks in advance.

Wax wont do it you need a buffing compound. I have also taken scuff marks off of auto paint with a credit card. But for new paint, because it still maybe a little soft, it needs buffed out then polished with wax.

You are going to laugh but......

anything oily, such as baby oil or WD 40 will easily remove it.
