Question Salt Away

Does anyone use it or similar products? I'm thinking to use it on my new to me 2002 Merc 225 EFI. Don't know if the previous owner flushed the motor and I want to make sure all passages are clear.
thanks, John

Saltaway

Absolutly i use this stuff on everything

Outboard get's flushed if it is not going to be used for more than a day
i went 3 seasons 225 hours on the same water pump and thermostat
the mechanic said it all stiil looked good

Diesel i would run it thru the raw water intake from the strainer by shutting of the seawater when the engine was warm and feed fresh water thru it then Saltaway

i would rinse everything down on the boat including rods and reels

swear by that stuff,,,,,,,,,,,,, it is amazing ,,,,,,there are lot's of imitations out there so be specific

get the metered dispenser but be careful the threads on the solution cups are pretty easy to cross thread

Buildup

If there is any buildup in the powerhead from the previous owner will Salt-Away clean it out?
Thanks, John

Check out there site

I would say yes it would

In the fall on our diesel boat we would only use the boat a few times a month and i would just rinse it out with fresh water and run salta away thru it
and leave it in there for weeks on end

and when you fired it off you could actually see small scales of metal encrusted salt coming out of the exhaust

check with a good mechanic first but if it was me i would give it a go

Best place to buy

First time I heard of this stuff, can you buy it locally, West Marine or Boater's World?
