    28' bertram....

I re-build those to twin outboard boats... they make really good blocks to rebuild and are very economical to run and keep up.

I did a search for 77-79 28 berts, 18k is very, very reasonable. Great deal here for some one.

How do you set up the motor bracket?I'm thinking on doing this to a Wellcraft flybridge.Got any pictures? How low is the bracket set at the transom?Got a ton of questions like this, any place I can find the answers?

    conversions..

the Bertram was a easy crossover #1 because they are built strong in the first place and are built by inner liners that glue or glass together. the bracket just cannot be hung on the back. I stripped everything out of the boat wiring etc... the transome is curved on a bertram and I didn't want to loose that in looks performance so the bracket was made to fit the transome.. (most are just standard flat stuff) layers of okume and bi-axle glass and epoxy were added in layers and vacume bagged together for a solid core. the bracket is also built as a v type displacement for engine weight and backing up. the area where the shaft log, strut, and rudder post was a prime area to build up another stringer also. all stringers were beefed and re-built to make the boat stronger and to take the 'push' of hp from the stern. the corners were also beefed to deal with any twisting from the power while turning. More fuel and 42 gallons of water were added and I gutted the interior to a new day bunk / bench. I do these for a living and have one of them as our personal boat. we use it a lot and are very happy with her. fuel -205 gallons / water 42 gallons / top speed with 225 4 strokes 39.8 knots / real head with holding tank / being able to go bonefishing in my boat priceless! the storage and fishing / diving room is amazing and handles great.

The boat is in great shape. It has a new Raymarine C-80 radar, hi def fish finder the whole deal. The interior is in excellent shape. There is one soft spot 10"x 6' in the deck that is easily removed flipped and reglassed. Single spreader outriggers, IT is a great deal. He wants a small center console that he can trailer to Florida. 23' to 26'. He might even consider a trade for a center console.

Thanks for the info.I use to build boats years ago and I can see how the build up would need to be.Thinking on ripping the hold sole out and turn this boat into a cc boat.It is a 1987 Wellcraft sportsbridge.Solid boat with about 1/2" glass below the water line and 3/8" on the sides. It has a 46 drg entry and 16 drg at the transom.Boat LOA is 30'6" and 10'11" wide.

I'm looking for something for day charter running and this might fit the bill.
