    Hi BF;
    My RR has 2x 225 optimaxs, and I just blew a powerhead..

    I am considering a pair of 300 'Zukes; but there will be a differential of about 230 lbs over Merc Optis...I had a 35 gal oval livewell I would tie to the back of the transom on the bracket...filled with seawater it must have weighed at or more than the diff in weight. Never got water thru the scuppers, even when two slightly overweight guys are standing at the back.

    Let me know how that works out for you. I really want to go with the 4strkrs but cost may have a definite impact on the decision. I may have to eat the cost of a new pwerhead (6-7k!!!) until I can afford the upper 30's for a repower.

    Thumbs up Hey OTSEG!

    Thanks for the hook up with Mr. Connell. I spoke with him breifly, and his son Cliff gave me a shout as well. I am going to block off some time in the near future to go have lunch with Cliff and hopefull Cal as well.

    Cliff asked me about my RR, when I told him which one it is, he called it "the Hilton" named because of the trunk cabin...

    I am looking forward to meeting him/them!

    Hey billfish hows the repower going? I am really looking forward to hear how this works out. I have talked to several people about the cooling problems with these boats and they all have said that the position of the bracket is very important. In a previous post Barnacle Bill said evinrude makes a scoop for there motors that helps with this problem I am not sure if other engines offer the same scoop. I will post more pics after this weekend.

    I took the boat down on feb 26 i may have it back the first week of march. I filled the fuel tank for the first time held 275 gal. I added deck drains so with the 300 suzukis and that much fuel i put check valves in them and thinking of adding the raybud ball valves for the other scuppers in the transom i also have a 50 gal livewell at the transom but after reading the other post i may not have to do anything we went for a ride in a 32 everglades at the boatshow in miami and the fuel flow gauge read 2.5 mpg @ 4300 rpm with the 300s. I have to say we also went for a ride in a boat with tripple e-tecs and at wide open throttle it did get a overheating alarm could be the way it was rigged we also asked to turn off the center engine and raise it up it still had some of the center engine in the water as drag then we ran the boat with just the two it only turned 4800 rpms but the boat did plane and ran 32mph put then it over heated again the everglades could not plane with one engine something to consider. I will have to get you guys to tell me how to post pics. when i get the boat back.

    Well i finally used the boat for the first time. I can not tell you how happy i am the suzuki outboards are supper lots of power no over heating fuel burn around 1.5 mpg at 4100rpm speed at 29 to 30 knots tops out at a crazy 47 knots when she gets up on those steps its so much fun to drive ran it through a 3 foot chop on sat at 28 knots i will post some pictures soon its at the aluminum shop getting some final touches also have no problem with water coming through the scuppers i was worried with the weight of the 300s and the 275 gal of fuel and the live well which i made a litttle to big

    Congrats on the repower the numbers sound pretty good. How many hours were you able to put on them? do you think you have to do any fine tuning. Looking forward to some pics and some more info but I am sure that will just lead to a lot more questions I have. Please keep us posted!

    I have 16 hrs on them now the rpms seem a little high around 6200 top end but when you add weight such as ice,fishing gear, anchor and chain, 4 guys and there gear it will be pretty close ill have to tell you what props i have i know they are 4 blade i think i could use more trimtab to push the bow down a little harder i think i put 14" length and 12" width i let you know i'm surprised how many people know about these boats wait till you finish yours and see how many people come up to you and tell how nice of a boat you have cool but not as cool as wot. ill stay in touch.
