Rod holders in floor???

Ok, here it is. The boat is a 21' center console. There are never enough rod holders Could it be possible to put rod holders where it shows it in the pic. The T-top is so high I cant reach it from the floor, and there are only four holders in the gunnels. I think these would also be good for a shotgun, but, since the rod is so low I might have problems with tangles?? I was also thinking it might be hard to get the rod up and out with a big fish on.
As you can see I have no transom, only a stupid splashwell or whatever you call them things

Thanks for the opinions

Fintan

From what i can see , i would put them on the front side of the splash gate
using a backing plate or large SS washers .
I think you would be compromising the rear deck never minding the holders may leak water into the bilge area ?

I wouldn't put holes in my deck on a boat with a notched transom, water will flow into the bildge through the rod holders

Like Chris said, mount them to the wavegate. Or I have seen boats with a mini rocket launcher fabricated across the back

How about someting like these TACO racheting rod holders for your T Top?

The other choices I would consider would be something like the triple holder shown here also, or lastly a custom made rocket launcher arch that goes either over your motor, or better to the back of your leaning post.

My skiff is rigged out like this...

Two in each gunwale. Three clamp ons on the seat two more clamp ons on the console rail, three vertical rack forward of the console, three more on the face of the casting deck and two more flat mounts on the inside of the bow between the casing deck and console...

Didn't even think of the structural issues I figured the water in the bilge wouldn't be a problem, because in all honesty I've only had water come over the transom once while drifting in the river when a 40+ footer went by.

Thanks for the info and keep it comin

It only takes one time when taking a wave over the transom

I was running my buddies boat in the rips one day and we had 2 on with 2 people aboard and the boat got sucked into the rip before i new it and over the well came 2-3 waves that filled the boat before i could get on the throttles

we try to cat walk the rips when wire lining for stripers and sometimes you get pulled right in

it is a little different when you have a full transom you just get a good splash in the face
