    The Chicken or The Egg?,

I certainly understand your question. May be time to take a break and go fishing on both before you buy. Even if it weren't a buyer's market, it's still a big investment (if you want to call it that, I call mine sanity). Make sure, before you jump. Do some serious trip's,you won't be sorry.Frank,SeaPower

Has to be a compromise, going through the same thought process at the moment, cannot put the Mrs Woman on a bean bag for the night on a cc, like the Idea of the all round fishing that a cc gives, prefer the clean lines on a inboard motor transom, somewhere the kids are safe and in sight helps in a big sea, the shower and sleep thing is good too. Has to be a walk around in one form or another like the look big time of this sled http://www.strikeyachts.com/ModelDet...ke37WalkAround
only thing is I cannot lock it up and go home, though I suppose that can be Ordered along with heat or air con as an option? The 44 would be the way ahead, just that more breathing space I would Imagine.
Tie that in with a Zeus or IPS drive, sky hook system you have the works. Is there a boat out there like that?

I have thought about this subject for a while. The 22 knotts would be hard thing for me to take but the a/c ,heat and racks would be nice. The bottom line for me is the ability to drag the boat to the bite. The trailer boat lets me to move her north or south. as the bite changes. At this point in my life with kids and work it is the better choice for me.

There is no right or wrong answer to the OP's question. As many have allready said, it depends on your circumstances at this particular stage of your life.
Myself I belong to the crowd that abandoned the sportfish (Albemarle) for the CC (Southport). Got tired of the maintenance, upkeep, bottom painting, polishing the tower, putting a crew together and 22 kts cruise at 0.75 mpg. I did enjoy the overnighters when we did them and used the bunks at that time only. Carried the shower stall etc with me for hundreds of hours and never used it once.
I got into a CC that I keep in a boatel, high and dry, when not in use. Rigged the boat so I can fish her by myself if noone else wants to come along. Maintenance is down to nothing with the OBs, bottom is not painted, sun and salt do not give the boat a beating when not in use, she is plenty fast (33 kts at 4000 rpm) and smooth for my bones, economical to run and fish her about 300 hrs per year. Sure, I have to pick my days, but you know what?... I did the same with the sportfish as if it blows more than 20 its no picnic for the sportfish either.
Added bonus is I can fish the backbays if the ocean is too rough. Its the KISS method for me and my circumstance. Maybe its the same for you....maybe its not.....
