Jay how high those box's? To cover the motors foot? OR can we raise whole deck? Raise gunnel's to compensate, more head room below deck? Need to lengthen boat to do this? if so by how much 5' 10'? IPS ? No shafts c of g would for all circumstances stay the same as hanging 3 x350 off the back, you can keep same amount of fuel boat have a larger range. Am I dreaming or is it just wishful thinking

Straight Diesel inboards, jets or even IPS drives wouldn't really work without a major re-design. The weight would be too far forward and unbalance the boat!

If we did twin Volvo D-6 Diesels with outdrives we would only have to move the interior transom bulkhead another 20" forward. We would be able to keep the 450 gallon fuel tank with this set-up. This would work very well, I think, unless you are set against outdrives or possibly feel that you are too far away from the water when standing dead center aft.

Another possibility would be inboards w/ "V" drives - not sure about this one...

The raising the deck idea. If we did dual D-6 w/ outdrives the deck would have to be raised 8" to have a flush deck. In the back corners of the boat that would only leave 20" of deck-up freeboard in those back corners (as designed). Too low unless you do a "rail" all around.

I understand that when fishing you need to be able to reach the water but I also have always thought that a flush deck at the gunwales would be a cool center console. I love being high on the water - I'm forever standing on gunwale caps and holding onto the cabin top. If you did a flush deck like on a CG 41' you would have so much more deckspace up there. Room below for a ton of storage, berth(s), genset, freezer, refrigeration, watermaker, tank storage, compressor etc. You could even make a dropdown where you go to get the fish. Maybe its a dumb idea but i've always liked it!

When do we start?
