Ritchie Howell To Premier at Miami Boat Show

We would like to let everyone know that we will be showning off our 60 Ritchie Howell in the Miami Boat Show starting February 12 running thru Feburary 15. We will be using our 60' as a show boat for Ritchie but she is not for sale - just a sistership to show off Ritchie's work so please don't start any rumors.

In that regard, we have on 60' Ritchie Howell down at Pirate's Cove Marine in North Carolina as Ritchie and his team are putting in a few new items for us (like a grill for the cockpit, additional cockpit speakers, mezzanie storage, cockpit tackle drawers, additional spreader lights, and a brand new rug in the salon - we've put 800 hours on the boat already in 50 overnighters with out missing a beat except for a messed up rug and we can't have her at the Miami Boat Show without a new rug can we???).

Off course some less then ideal gaff shots call for the need for a quick touch up on some of those gaff marks and we need couple professionals to pretty up the teak cockpit and we will be on our way down to Maimi Beach for the Boat Show and a month of Sailfish and Swordfish fishing once we are down giant fishing in Morehead.

If anyone wants a tour of the boat and sea trial any time while it is still in Pirate’s Cove this month or in Miami next month please come give me call at 732-272-4445 or an email at adam@canyonrunner.com.

    Thanks Man!!!

I am serious about the offer - anytime. If you are down in North Carolina this month give me a couple days notice and I'll get you out for ride with Ritchie or hang around at the Miami Boat Show as we will be sea trialing her at night.

I have to tell you that even I am surprised at how well she performed this year and anyone who knows me will tell you I am always sceptical.

The fact is we picked her up from Ritchie's shop on June 19 drove her to New Jersey and took over first overnighter on June 21. We then ran 50 overnighers with her the White Marlin Open and the Mid-Atlantic $500,000 put 800 hours on her and - never missed a single charter due to any issue with the boat at all (which is unheard of in a brand new boat). Not to mention placing in the money at both those tournaments!!!

The only thing that could have made our first year with her better was if fuel wasn't $4.75 a gallon!!!!!!

Thanks! No the express boats won't be ready until mid-Summer. Ritchie is building 3 express boats right now inclduing a 54' Express with IPD drives and two 42' Express boats. We plan on having an express boat at the 2010 Boat Show. You can of course come down to the shop anytime to see the ones currently under constuction - just shoot me an email or give me a call.

Below is a quick letter from the folks that just recently started their build that I thought I should share:

    From Capt. Capt. Gasper Marino:

"For the past few years we have been going back and forth about purchasing a new vessel, and for the past 30 years we have bought and sold over a dozen or so more. With our experience we have fished more production boats than anything else, and personally have over fifteen years of experience working on one of the top production boats in the world.

The thought of going custom was thrown around time and time again, but there was always some reason why we never committed. Knowing the reputation Ritchie Howell has for not only building a fishing machine, but an extremely rugged hull, on the proven Carolina hull design, we figured lets give him a call. A few days later we were sitting at a local restaurant having lunch, after going through the 60' Canyon Runner with Ritchie and Adam LaRosa - Owner Canyon Runner Sport Fishing - and a few other projects Ritchie has going on, discussing the build process of our own Ritchie Howell Custom Carolina Yacht.

What impressed me the most and made me want my next boat to be Ritchie's next build, was his excitement about our ideas and his willingness to build us what we were looking for and not what he wanted to build. Working with Ritchie and his crew has been a unique experience. I personally feel you will not find a more straight forward, professional, and honest group of guys.

Come winter of 2009, when the 42' Ritchie Howell, "Wadmacallit", is finished and sitting at it's slip in Charleston, SC I know it will provide us with everything we are looking for, whether it for our tournament schedule or providing our charters with more comforts, safety, and excitement then they could ever of imagined.

    Tight lines,

    Capt. Gasper Marino "
