Nice boat you have there Jeremy! That transom lettering looks very familiar![]()
Fished on a friends 41 in late 80's early 90's out of Gloucester MA. Blue hull, full tower, 3208 cats, 24 kts cruise -called the Mariah. Caught fish well, rode very well, real pretty lines. Could pretty much go wherever you wanted in that boat. Ended up being sold in mid 90's to someone in Virginia I believe. Will try to dig up some old pictures.
Ricky built 5 41 footers. 4 Flybridge boats and the last, built in 1985, was an Express. I own the Express and have totally upgraded ut. The only thing that is original is the hull. Sunny Briggs and Spencers along with Just Right Marine, all in Wanchese, have done the work.
The boat was recently repowered with Cummins 450C engines. Along with the horsepower and torque increases from the original 3208-TAs, 355 hp, the new gears are 1.75:1 instead of 1.51:1. Cruise speed is now just under 28 knots full load versus 20-1/2 kts before. Top speed is just over 33 knots. We had to cut down the keel after repowering since the boat wanted to chine walk badly since the additional speed had her up planing on her keel.
I ran across another 41' bridge boat in Delaware that had also been repowered with the same engines. As far as I know, all 5 41s are still operating.
My boat is a great fish raiser, has a huge cockpit, and a very soft ride.

Damn, gonna be one gorgeous ride thereI looked at the old Brigand , and have kicked myself in the ass ever since for not buying it !! Good Luck with her !!
[QUOTE=JPH;512064]She was a 41 out of Ocean City, MD, where is she now?
We bought the old Brigand last spring just after she was repowered with a pair of Cummins 450 c's. We immediately ran her up to Wanchese and went through a series of projects at Bayliss Boatworks. She got new motor mounts, all new electronics, curtains, electronic controls, soft goods and other updates. We have been very impressed with her thus far the former owners took very good care of the boat from what we can tell. The boat is now the RETRIEVER and will spend time in wilmington, nc, pirates cove and charleston this year.
the boat looks great. What kind of cruise do you get out of her? Also what kind of fuel burn at cruise? thanks for the help. jcd
Thanks. We cruise at 26-28 burning around 28 gallons an hr. Not bad at all. We have been very happy so far!!
