I was talking about this with a guy today- what is the total number of Boats Ricky has built? I am guessing 20 or so? Not counting the boats he helped others build.

There goes my summer! Now we have two Duffies to worry about, no fish is safe anymore. Nice rig you have there, can't wait to see it in OC this summer.

Franky, I would say Rick built 20 smaller boats before he built any large sportfishermen. He built quite a few crab skiffs, inshore boats and commercial boats up to 38 feet first. He has his first crab boat in the barn right now. She was still being used. Just needed a few planks and some glass. I think he bought it back, that would be pretty neat to get your first boat back.

How many big boats you reckon he has built thus far Jonny? I was trying to figure it out counting on my hands?

I bought the Easy Lovin from George in 1982-83.Single Cummings triple nickel.Took her to Fl. Renamed Sassy Gal.Fished Florida east coast, then Destin for two seasons in the Gulf, back to east coast and many trips to the Bahamas. Sold her about 10 years ago or so and she is a part time charter boat in Jupiter, Fl.Still looks great. One of the finest "little" offshore fishing boats ever built.

I love this thread. So good to see Agitator rebuild process. I looked into buying her when she was in S.C. but she needed serious tender lovin care. So great to see the boat getting the great care and rebuild. Great boats. Keep the posts coming.

    ricky boats

If I remember correctly Ricky told me he had built 49 Boats. Like jonny said I think there were about 20 boats between 20-40ish feet. Some were skiffs and some were commercial boats. I know there are about 25 he built that are 44-86 feet and ranged from charter boats still fishing in oregon inlet to the 86 megayacht he jut delivered.

I was figuring between 20 and 30 "big" boats. It was not like he was popping the big ones out 2 per year from the mid eighties til now afterall. And to be honest i kind of forgot about the "work" boats.

I have always been a huge fan of the Ricky boats. I really enjoyed fishing on the first Inger- caught a pile of fish on that rig. And I have admired the rest and fished on a few, and surveyed a few over the years- great quality rigs, that is for sure.

Can't wait to get out on the revamped Agitator- thanks for accepting my self invitation Jeremy

Jeremy, I sure am eager to see the updated pics posted on that 39 he re-built, I bet she is just right.

Who is more involved in building or refurbishing the boats any more, elder Ricky or Ricky Jr.?
