Yes these Yanmars are the same Scania blocks sold to Yanmars without the electronic package. The Scania sells the 700hp in the same block. Its much cheaper and simpler electronics than the Yanmar though! Check those out if weight/service guys etc is not an issue.

The 720 yanmars in my buddies boat fit easily. Before they did the install, they completely stripped out all the old wiring, lines, etc., and refinished the hull and engine room. The boat is really a totally different vessel with great speed, economy, and fish come to it. You should hear how quiet those Yanmars are.

Darryll not sure what kind of money you are looking at spending but i would say recon 450 c's would be +/- 60k installed which would probably be your most economical option next to rebuilding. M11's or comperable engines would be that or more alone not counting install. For peace of mind i fished with a friend of mine who has a 42 that was repowered with volvos 450 i think boat rides well doesn't seem to roll any worse than when it had 6v92's seems to need less tab and we burned 190 gallons going 58 miles out trolling 8-3 then 56 miles home at 22 kts.he did not have to change any of his running gear either.

Tim Silvio at Down Jersey Marine in Greenwich, NJ did the refit on my friend's boat with the Yanmars. If you would like , you can contact the boat owner at bayviewlawn@comcast.net His name is Bruce.

    Rebuild!
For the money you will spend on repowering, gears and other odds and ends, you can rebuild the detroits ten times... 35,000 hours out of the detroits for the price you will spend for 3,500 hours on new power.... The answer is simple
