Which engines are you thinking about? What size shafts and metal composition are you running now? What size exhaust are you presently running?

I have similar sized engines in a similar sized boat, about what price range does a conversion to diesel cost?

you may wanna reconsider this decision...it's a lot more than just dropping in engines and calling it a day...
first the fuel system will need to be decontaminated, return lines will need to be set up-a diesel returns it's fuel to the tank.depending on the age of the tank,it may be wise to have a new tank mfg'd...that's the fuel system part...
exhaust, the size of the exhaust along with the outlets and the mufflers will need to be changed-it's gonna be a little small for the diesels...
shafts, the shafts will need to be replaced with larger diameter shafts, the props will need to be replaced, the cutlass bearing in the struts will need to be changed out-if the correct diameter shaft bearing is availible,if a bearing to fit the existing shaft isn't availible, the struts will need to be replaced, shaft logs will probably be ok...
engines...a set of yanmar is the way to go,approx $19,000 each...
gets expensive huh ???
with the market conditions now,you can probably pick up a late model low hour diesel rig for a real good price....

just my thoughts....

Jawz is right on thats why I was asking those questions.By the way my Yanmars were 24,000 each including gears, isolators, wiring harness and gauge panel. Then factor in around another 15,000 for your shafts, struts, props, prop flanges, cutlass bearings, stuffing boxes, fuel lines, batteries, battery cables, battery box, mufflers, exhaust hose, sea cocks, intake hose, engine bedding materials, etc. etc.

showtime & hammer, you should really consider brand new fuel injected electronic big blocks from say Crusader. they would cut down on re-inventing/rigging your boat and they don't drink nerly as much as they used to! if you run them right. in a 29,' two of them, you probably would'nt use it all. just my 2 cents.
