I am in the process of trying to choose a repower for my twin 1987 yamaha 150 hp northcoast. the engines have over 2000 hrs. they are running but the compression across the board is getting low. my question is, can I install one suzuki 300 hp four stroke in place of the two 150s?
if i were you,i would pop for a set of yamaha 200hpdi engines...i would swap the wheels out to the merc "revolution 4" 4 blades and run them till they die(a real looooooooong time)....
i have 2 customers who have the north coast boats-both of those guys have yamaha power...
If you visit our web site you will see a few boats we pulled off twins and installed a single outboard. 26' Rabalo had twin 150 Johnson's repowered with single 250 Evinrude ETEC, 25' Hydra Sport had twin 200 yamaha's repowered with a single 250 Evinrude ETEC, 25" Hydra Sport had twin Evinrude 140's repowered with single 225 Evinrude ETEC, and a 26' Sitger Craft had Johnson 120's repowered with single 250 Evinrude ETEC. Every customer has been very happy and many question why they had twins to start with.
