    Repower from 1988 Yamaha 200HP 2 stroke to 2001 Yamaha 150 HPDI

I was wondering if anyone has attempted this type of repower? Specifically, i want to know if the guages, ignigition, controlls need to be changed? Any help would be appreciated.

It is a 1988 25' grady white sailfish. it has twin 200's with original hours (around 1600) . My plan was to put twin 150 hpdi's on. They only have 100 hrs and i was hoping to not see a serious decline in performance. I typically only cruise with the boat, so it might not be so bad.

Harnesses are only different when you switch from 2-stroke to 4 stroke because of the remote oil tanks for the 2-stroke oil.

Gauges would remain the same yamaha's will work with digital or analog gauges

The ignition and everything else will stay the same

Depending on what the engines came off of you might need to swap the props out to get the right performance.

Other than that you are golden!

    Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. The local dealer for Yamaha told me that i would probably have change out everything which would cost me upwards of 4000.

    Thanks again!

the smart play when repowering is to replace everything...reason being, the engines are new, using old control cables and guages and having a problem later,it looks bad...it's like taking a shower and putting your dirty clothes back on-just wrong !!
    personally,when i do repowers,i repalce everything,including the battery cables...it's the smart play...
