Repost for a Friend... Volvo Issues...

A close friend is having troubles again with volvos. Posted in the big game forum instead of here. Figured I'd do what I can and move a link here.

I used to work with him. Blew a set of motors a couple years ago. Replaced under warranty. The new ones blew after short hours. He was out of it last season changing one and sounds like he popped another to kick off an probably lose this season.
Any ideas or directions for him would be greatly appreciated. He is without question one of the nicest kindest people I have ever met and Volvo is treating him like a dog.

    Deep,

All I can say is good luck with Volvo after the warrantee run's out. There is something out there in the engine world called "policy". I doubt very seriously that anyone on the "warrantee" level is going to be able to authorize a "policy". Just as well start shaking the higher bushes. The problem with a situation like this (from the company's point of view), is they are afraid to open Pandara's Box. I hate to say it but it's he truth, I don't care what color your engine is, "your only as good as your dealer". If you've got a good, stick up for his customer, strong minded dealer that isn't willing to take NO for an answer, that's your best shot. It's not alway's about making money in a business, it's building a relationship. Customer's and their dealer's walk on a 2 way street. Frank, SeaPower

Jeeeze... Volvo has been terrible the whole way through. They tried not to warranty the first engine... I was driving the boat then. Told me to take it 40 miles up sea in a 28' to the dealer in NAssau. They had no dealer!!! Told me to "trailer the boat to a dealer in Florida"...
I did find a Volvo certified tech and they refused for three weeks tolet him touch the engine. Finally Vice President was reached and he gave the go ahead. The mechanic was one of these "selective geniuses". Taught me how Volvo designed that model to blow after warranty but we had enough hours that it popped in warranty... Showed me in very specific detail.
The other engine was on its way Dipstick showed a crank case full of gasoline but still they demanded I take the potential bomb two hundred miles to another dealer.

I spent eight weeks and had a suit prepared to go to court all the while trying to deal with them. Eventually they coughed up a set but made us wait til day before warranty expired to install a set "they had to build special"...
He blew up one last year and I guess another now... Gotta be a lemon law thing around...
