Removing T Top from boat
I have to get the t top off the boat to do some fiberglass repairs on the console. The stainless screws and the aluminum tower legs are corroded together. Is there anything besides brute force that will break that connection?
Thanks

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
Fintan,
You can drill out the screw heads, then use a screw extractor to remove the remaining portion of the screws.
I'm kinda guessing here, but the screws are probably 1/4 or 5/16. If they are Phillips, use a 1/8" bit to get started, then go back with a 1/4, and if necessary follow that with a 5/16.
A little wd-40 will help lubricate and keep the drill bit a bit cooler.
You need to be careful - stainless is a lot harder than aluminum, so if the drill slips, it will chew the aluminum.

PB blaster spray and time.It took just over a week for me to remove a few bolt on Lee rod holders off a radar arch.Use a impact hammer with a phillips head that is harden steel.Hit it a couple times and then soak it with the PB blaster.Do that for a few days till they break loose.
