I did hear a rumor that was coming but we hear these rumors so much these days its hard to know what to believe. Another one is that contender is on the brink and stopping production down here, but who knows what to believe. Personally, I hope they all make it but I dont see how they can. I spent 6.82 a gallon to get our boat back from the Bahamas last week and it doesnt seem to be stopping here. Fishing offshore will just become a rich mans deal and that is a shame.

i hope this just a rumour..damn,it is getting tighter and tighter out there...

i don't blame the gov't for all this but it is their job to look out for the best interest for this country,i am not so sure that is being done right now....its time we take a step back and start to help our own.

I know there is so many of the rumors floating now, you never know that is for sure!

Contender is about the only one that I know personally that is keeping the lights on and holding on tight. I know the NE is up and the south is tumble weeds by the sounds of it from some of thier dealers

The smallest little upset with any dealer or factory will hurt the longest.

Something needs to change that is for sure!!

Boating industry is similar to my building industry. I think this down time will ultimately be healthy for both industries. I am sucking wind but this down time has cleared out a lot of riff raft. When times were booming every carpenter was suddenly a custom builder and every real estate agent was a developer. Most are gone! The quality boat builders will survive. I would think regulater is pausing its production to save direct costs. That is better than layoffs.

    Don't be Alarmed

Regulator has always shut down for 10 days this time of year for as long long as I can remember.
    They should be back now.

everyone hates the gov't to get their hands into things but.....

they immediately call for gov't intervention to work magic and fix things, which is ironic b/c in the long term gov't intervention boggs everything down, look at venezula and other countries which have real low oil and gas prices, the gov't fixed the prices real cheap, but the oil companies are pratically going out of business b/c the gov't is price fixing. Also, everyone thinks the solar, wind, etc. is magic fix, it will take decades to rid our system of oil. By the time we made the investment and reengineered everything oil prices will drop and go back to normal, and we wont even talk about energy problems for another ten years.

I used to travel to Houston alot and worked with guys from the oil drilling rigs. I met a few guysthat worked for the Venezula oil company. Yea they have $.15 gasoline but they pay a price. These guys and their family's live in goverment compounds, their kids go to oil company schools and theyget paid very little $$. The get credits that have to be spent in the oil company stores instead of money. We could also have very cheap gas if you wanted to be a socialist!

I'm old enough that I was driving during the 1974 Arab oil embargo. You had to sit in line for hours to get 8 gallons of gas. People started carpooling their asses off. Nobody does that now. But I also remember the oil companies telling us that we only had 20 years worth of oil left in 1974. What happened? The either found a whole buttload of oil or they were lying

If the average guy want to continue fishing off-shore we may have to go back to the old days. Instead of having 30 knot+ rockets we may have to run 20 knot single screw boats. Nobody wants to go slow but it might be time to think about it
