I have run the AP35, AP16 and AP26 in the past with excellent results. One thing you may want to check with your electronics shop is the current status of repair/service turnaround for Simrad which is now owned by Navico.
As of 2007 Navico (Lowrance, Eagle, Simrad and Northstar) has combined their repair/service division for all these brands to one division. According to my electronics shop, this had caused the repair/service time for Simrad to stretch out upwards of 3 months last summer and the summer before. I dont know if this remains to be the case but its worth checking out.
The Garmin GHP10 is also an excellent autopilot but is limited to steering cylinders up to 24 ci which may be adequate for a boat your size. This is what I have on my current boat connected to a NMEA 2000 network feeding a Furuno Navnet 3D and a Garmin 4212.

As much as I like Simrad AP's, I have to say that my one and only interface with their tech support/repair department last year was less than stellar. From my understanding, before the merger, they were well known as great service....apparently this has gone down hill from my experience. Customer service is still out of New Hampshire, however the actual repirs are performed in Whichta, Kansas.... neither did a very good job at handling my issue.
