On our Sunday fishing trip, we cruised @ 35 knots with a fuel burn between 48~50 gph......With a 40 knot cruise we are pulling less than 60% load on the engines. We were running 23 x 27.5 pitch props. This week we are changing the pitch to 31" with a full cup hopefully this will give us a little better fuel burn, and bump speed up 6~7 knots..At this point we are doing alot of engine testing. ( we are turning the shafts over 2000 rpm )
Also we have installed Raymarine E series gps's, touch screens, they are a nice piece. We also had custom made out riggers built....They turned out very well.....Remember cruising between 35~40 knots puts more load on everything in and on the boat......
This small Topaz rides very well in 3~5's @ 35 knos, the nose is high and the ride is dry...( nice surprise )
Thanks Greg Slayton
How are you guys going to fix the problem with the boat sitting 3-4 inches lower in the water? Man she looks like she sinking in one of the pics. No malice here I'm just curious.
3rd picture. Maybe I'm wrong but it looks a low in the water. Greg said it was riding low so I don't want to make this about the picture. I'm just currious what they wil do. I know there was a little Merrit a ways back that got monster engines put into it and they had to do all kinds of Chin work on the hull to get her to sit right. I was just curious.
...We had to put swing check valves in several drain lines, the mufflers have less than 30 inches of back pressure so they are fine. At 9 knots the boat starts to get lift. So everything seems to be working out...Thanks Greg
