Raymarine GPS Keeps Cutting Out
I have 2003 Raymarine C120 with a 2003 Raymarine 120 Series GPS and the GPS keeps cutting out. It seems to lose its satellite tracking capabilities. Often times it works flawlessly, but on the past 2 trips it did not work for the first 3-4 hours and then all of a sudden it begins working. I have checked all the connections and found no issues. Any ideas how to fix this?

Raymarine
Go to the Raymarine web site. Look for the update page and enter for C-120 and will bring up all updates(in which they are several you need). Download them to your computer, then get a blank 4GB card to save them to. When you install the card and power up the MASTER unit, go in menu and save from card it will automaticaly tell you what to do. I just done this for several customers having that problem along with Bottom Machine stopping. They have all the updates for your problem and all new ones to prevent problems.

You have to register the RM products (to get support) and I am the second owner of the equipment which is basically 8 years old. I do not think they will let me register now, but I will call them. Thanks.

Sounds like a lack of power to me.

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
The Ray 120 has a tendency, at times to drop the signal. They fixed that by developing the Ray 125 which is bulletproof. However, if you put the 120 on a separate power switch, when it drops the signal, you turn it off, then on , which reboots it and it works like a charm. Otherwise, call them at 1-800-539-5539 and see if they will somehow help you out in getting a Ray 125. They may give you a credit of some sort oward the purchase. I have a 120 on my boat and it does lose position on occasion and I shut it off then on and it works . This is not a regular occurance but only happens once in a great while.

Called Raymarine and told them my sob story. I ended up going to RM in New Hampshire and picked up a new 125 Raystar for 150 bucks. Came home and installed it. Problem solved. Thanks for all the great input. Tight Lines!
