I have never read the manual for my c or e series. I can't tell you what it says. The units are very intuitive and pretty much run on the aoto settings with no problems. My advice to folks is to sit down on the boat and push a few buttons. In reality, when folks stop at the booth at a boat show, they are ready to go with 10 minutes of orientation. The sounder works perfectly if all you do is turn it on, as does the radar. Granted, there are a load of features that most folks don't use, but as you use the machine, things come easily. They do give you a plastic coated startup card that covers the major key strokes. Remember that no matter what you do as to key strokes, if you hit the cancel button 3 times you will be back to the main screen.

I would go northstar if I was doing any electronics updates. I have used raymarine and I have to say I was impressed.

I have both a C80 and a Garmin GPS and Fishfinder. The Garmin's are easier to operate. Both have their strengths.
With the new 4212's and the 5200 series out there that's a touch screen, that hard to beat!

We probably sell 10 Garmin Hot Spots Fishing Chips to 1 Raymarine chip.

You won't go wrong we either.

    Just an opinion.
