Raymarine Electronics Install Question

This weekend we mounted and installed:

Ray 55 Radio with DSC calling
C-80 Head Unit
DSR 30 Sounder Unit
Sirius SR 50 sounder unit

This coming weekend, we are going to wire everything.

The C-80 headunit has two slots for SeaTalk1 and SeaTalk2. We need a 3rd slot for the NMEA cable from the Ray55 radio.

My question is do I need a Seatalk network switch? Is it a Seatalk or do I need a Seatalkhs switch for the Sirius (huge price difference)?

You dont need a switch. SR50 will connect to C80 via Seatalk2 cable. This is the cable that has a Y connectoion where one plug comes out of the SR50 and you will have one connection to the head unit (5 sloted pin connector) and a power lead that needs to be connected to the electronics bus. This powers the Seatalk2 network. On mine, the GPS antenna is connected via the Seatalk (3 sloted pin connector) and NMEA 0183 to DSC VHF. Good luck with the install.

I guess where I'm confused is how the GPS connects to the NMEA on the VHF and the C-80 headunit.

You run the cable from the Ray 125 GPS receiver to the seatalk 1 on the back of the unit. Then run NMEA out of the C-80 to the radio. Be sure to make the + and - wires match up. There is a nmea cable supplied and it is color coded.
