Raymarine 4.29 upgrade
I recently upgraded my E series software to the new 4.29 release. Following the upgrade my Radar was not functional. Two days later, I noticed the guy next to me working on his radar and...sure enough, he upgraded that morning. It seems the problems on some systems are addressed by doing a full system reset which you will now find in the instructions. On mine, the reset was a temporary fix but I lost radar again and the gain was not correct when working.
Through some quick Googling, I ran into a number of other individuals experiencing similar problems. Rather than engaging Raymarine, who may very well have the answers I've decided to revert to the previous release until this version can be field tested a bit more.
If you are upgrading be sure to back up your data before attempting the upgrade or reset, my waypoints were deleted by the upgrade. You may also want to do the upgrade at a time when you have some time to work through any complications that may arise.

What improvements were you hoping to gain from the updates. The sea state here in South Texas leaves me with some time to tinker but I want to make sure the improvement in performance is worth the risk.

I went in under the assumption that a new version would bring with it some performance enhancements and some new features. I did see some new features during the short time I had it installed. Memory presets for sonar was one of them. The improvements weren't enough to make it worth working through the radar issues too far, or running with the concern that it would drop out again.
Raymarine has some info on the enhancements on their website. I noticed some items that I didn't see listed there as well.

You need to do a master reset after doing the upgrade. This will erase all user data so back it up. This is a known problem.

After reading you guys posts, I ain't doing an upgrade until one of them rigs circle hooks. Too much downside and we don't have folks with your kind of talent, Yachtjim. Besides that, I can loose my waypoints all by myself.

Loaded 4.29 in my C-120 which is also hooked to radar and it updated fine. Must be a compatibility problem with the E series.

Raymarine E120 a mess after upgrade to 4.29
Since installing Raymarine's version 4.29 on my E-120 unit it has been a mess.
When I have the radar window highlighted I am unable to move to another window and have to power down the unit and restart.
Every time I restart the unit it seems to be reverting to the default settings on all applications; chart, radar. and sonar. In the chart/navigation window I can't get the cursor to stay on the ship and it is slow to react to course changes. Had a problem trying to get it to display the course up mode.
I thought I had a problem when I had multiple sonar window displayed on a page and I would change the highlighted window and all the other sonar windows would change the same as the highlighted. Radar did the same with multiple displays and the page. But, according to Raymarine Tech's that is the way the new 4.29 versions works. I can't believe that they would delete one of what I think was a major selling feature, it is almost like when Coke changed their original receipe, I now drink Pepsi.
The Raymarine techs act like this is something new to them and aren't giving me much help. Originally I called saying my radar had no return and the window would hang. The text walk me through a reset and the radar fired up and seemed OK until I took the boat out the following week and all the above problems came up.
One tech tells me to convert to Version 3.31 and another says not to and do a reset, which I think I already performed. They don't seem to track problems via a units serial number.
If I revert to 3.31 it won't be long before they say they can't support my unit unless I have the current update.
Raymarine likes the questions via internet, so the tech can put up a canned response and hope you don't bother them again.
Does anyone think the Factory Reset would fix the unit?
I'm having the marine electronics tech that install the unit take a look at it, and I hope he can get it back in usable condition. This guy couldn't believe it when I told him that you couldn't set up multiple sonar or radar window separately and they all change the same under version 4.29.
If I find out what fix will work, I will post it.
