    I think you can still get the Lowrance LRA-5000 open array for short $$. BOE sold out, but I think Consumer Marine still has them for $700... and it'll plug right into your 113.

    If you didn't have a screen that was plug & play I would suggest Furuno. My buddy runs a charter boat out of Solomons, MD and all of his electronics are Lowrance, I can say first hand that his unit is very clear. Only down side that I can think of is that you'd essentially have only 1 screen to run 3 functions. In which case if you don't mind only being able to see the radar & GPS or radar & FF at 1 time then its fine. If you want to be able to have all 3 visible at 1 time then you're gonna need a seperate screen. In which case I would suggest picking up another small Lowrance screen and interfacing them together to have all 3 functions available on both screens or pick up a Furuno unit.

    It's all in what you want, I personally have a Furuno radar with its own screen and a seperate FF and seperate GPS. I didn't have the need or the money for a combo unit (only fished local waters that I grew up on and used a handheld GPS until I started fishing offshore) when I first bought my boat which is why my FF and GPS are single units. Now I'm hoping to get a new Lowrance combo unit sometime soon, kinda tough since I just started back to work after almost a year of being unemployed.

    You can also get a digital bearing compass, and use the radar chart over-lay feature on your Lowrance. It's pretty slick, and means you can have chartplotter and radar on a single screen.

    Be careful what you decide. According to my supplier the LRA 5000 is not compatible. See excerpt:
    Compatible with:

    * LCX-111C HD
    * LCX-110C
    * LCX-26C HD
    * LCX-25C
    * GlobalMap®
    * 7600C HD, GlobalMap®
    * 7500C, GlobalMap®
    * 6600C HD
    * GlobalMap® 6500C

    One thing for sure, if you just add the radar and not another display you will have to decide what you want see between fish finder, GPS and radar on your split screen unless the unit is capable of overlaying radar on the GPS but from what I could see on the manufacturers spec sheets it looks like it is not available. Another thing to consider is the size of the split screen. You only get 1/2 of what you would with the unit on it's own display. For navigation that's ok. For finding flying birds while locating fish offshore it wouldn't work. You need a big screen. But then my eyes are old, maybe your aren't."yet" In any case I would stick with one brand of everything so it can be easily interphased in case of failure of one of the displays.

    Radar

    Further investigation shows that Lowrance says your display is compatible with two antennas. Unfortunately they are both of the dome type. We all know that for bird location your best bet is an Array. However. The two units compatible with LCX113CHD are the LRA 2400 and the LRA 1800. I think you would be happier with the LRA 5000 and another display. Perhaps they make a display for the LRA that would be compatible with your fish finder and GPS..??

    LRA-5000 will work fine with the 113, but it doesn't work with the new HDS models. Radar over-lay will also work on your unit w/ the addition of a heading sensor.

    The split screen is fully adjustable as well, so you can get 30% FF & 70% chart/radar or any combo you want.
