Question: removing silicone
I need a bit of advice: What is the best product and method to remove clear silicone from an awlgrip finish? The previous boat yard smeared a bunch of it on my paint and I want to know what is best to remove it in the best manner!
Thanks

WD 40 ... I know it takes off everything else. 5200, caulk etc.

I used acetone to clean it off of fiberglass ,not sure if it will hurt allgrip .

Look at this product, We used it on Southern Star when I worked on it. The boat was painted with awlgrip. I do not know how much it costs, the captain purchased it.

If you have "chunks" versus just a smear, then I would start with scraping the majority off with a plastic putty knife, then final clean up with WD40.

thanks guys! It is a combo of smears and chunks. The yard that did the work previously really did sh*t job..... unbelievable.

Gasoline works well and shouldnt hurt the paint like acetone would

Stop staring at my Avatar.
Accetone is not good for the human skin, but I have never heard it would do anything harmful to awlgrip after it is a few months old? Correct me if Im wrong? but when painting awlgrip boot stripes on awlgrip hulls. I think most people use acetone at some point in the job? I know I have!
