Question for frank I think ?
Frank or any one out there, why would anybody really go mad and throw their toys out of thier cots, and swear you off a certain make of motor IE Cat or any electronic common rail motor and tell you to chose a motor, IE Baudouin, is it purely ease of repair? Parts? or mechanical? Weight to Hp seems to be a trade off, for a sports boat, if you do not know this motor here is the link any response is good. http://www.baudouin-engine.com/EN/index_en.htm I'm aware as to what hull type planning semi etc this would be dropped into but, twin 500 Hp motors are just that 500hp, they are non turbo. Any answers please.

Flat,
I am not familar with the brand engine you posted. No one has manufactured a perfect engine yet. Regardless of the brand a fellow is considering, local support (parts and service) are possibly the most neglected aspect thought about. There are certainly brands that I prefer over others. In the end, if you can't get the parts or support for a particular brand in your area, that engine is dead on arrival. I am very leary of anyone that cannot tell you WHY to avoid any brand. Rumor is of little value, facts are. Frank
