    Project ideas

I am looking at starting a boat build project. I am looking for ideas and/or information/access to plans that I can start with and expand from if needed. I was thinking of a flat bottom skiff or something similar with a wide beam and shallower draft and wide gunnels. Needs to be a center console around 17-21 ft that can be trailered. I would like a cold mold construction if possible. I have been following Capt Jay's Piney Ridge builds and have fallen in love with them. I appreciate any insight everyone can give me.

Graham is the man.... Look at the Ocracoke 20.... Should be a fun project. He can do anysize boat/ design you want. He is a naval architect. He has done lots of jigs/ plans for many boatbuilders here in NC.

Thanks guys. These are great places to start. Scattered_grass - I think my wife would divorce me if I brought that beauty home with me.

Does anybody have any plans for a flat bottomed skiff type boat.

Hey soundman, next time you're in town PM me or stop by the shop. I've got four different manufacturers flat bottoms in the shop now, you can take all the measurements you want! I'll be happy to coach you through the process!

Wow Soundman... That is a pretty good offer. If you can get past Bill being so "longwinded" in his descriptions you will be well on your way to building a boat. Bill is one of the better folks that I know of to describe why and how.... Go to his shop early in the morning, You can spend a day with him and have it all figured out. That is what I would do (and have done). He has a great eye for what is right.
