    Pics of my electronics

Here's how the electronics ended up on my express.

    Radar aray.

The GPS antenna are mounted high up on top of the buggy top.

Starboard side of tower station has the single lever engine controls including trolling valve activation. The Lenco trim tab controls are mounted to the left of the engine control head. The starboard engine readout is the small screen towards the front and the engine start stop switch is below the engine controls vertically mounted out of the way. The antenna mount and tower mounted brace are off to the right of the engine controls. The antenna have to be mounted when the boat is out of the shed.

Port Side consists of an 8" Navnet 3d display with controller, port engine start/stop switch and Yanmar engine readout.

The bar to the right of the tower station will hold the Digital antenna.

    Tower station:

    Helm Station: Simple and clean.

Port and starboard engine monitor readouts are stacked above each other between the two 17" Big Bay electronic monitors. The monitors screens can be split into 4 sections and can display the engine data all of the Navnet information as well as conventional video.

The cockpit cabinet mounted 17" screen is also wired for the same functions. I'm looking forward to having baseball or football on the monitor next fall as we troll the canyons.

Below the screens on the port side is the Simrad AP28 autopilot. I have the wireless remote control for that so I can operate it without leaving the Bessenzoni helm chair. That autopilot system has programmable "S" modes for trolling as well as zig zag patterns as well as a depth ground contour following feature.

Below that is the remote Alpine Stereo controller with digital readout. There will be another stereo controller mounted in the cockpit and one in the cabin. Those have yet to be installed. But they are radio controlled units and it's just a matter of cutting the hole and fastening them in.

Starboard side tucked away by itself in a little nook up forward is the windless control.

Below that is the Furuno 3D black box control. Below that controller is the Side Power bow thruster controller on the left and the Lenco trim Tab control on the right.

To the left of the Side Power bow thruster controller mounted on the vertical wall is the Fireboy engine room extinguisher activation control.

The electrical panels are wired in. The panel on top controls the tower lights, windscreen washers and wipers, helm deck lights and courtesy lights at the tuna door.

The only thing that’s remaining to mount are the remote mics for the twin Icom 604 radios.

Items I've yet to purchase are the satellite dome for TV and the Flir system. Both have been wired into the tower for future additions.

Here's an older picture of the cockpit cabinet that will house the cockpit monitor. I wanted a monitor mounted in the cockpit so it would be easy to see if there's fish under the boat as we chunk and jig for tuna in the canyons at night.

This is a picture of the Bigbay screen as we were making the decision to go with them or not. That screen in this photo is the one that's being mounted in the cockpit cabinet.

The Icom 604 radios and the Alpine CDA 118 are installed in the companionway recess. The mics that will remain on those radios will be mounted out of the way on the side of the area that they are installed in.

    nice rig..

I also like the way your hardtop has the ladder bar underneath the edges for extra rails going down the side. real nice when he windows are down .. I do all lace less canvas on our stuff and also add the hand ladder stuff.. makes it easier to have something to hold while cleaning also..

Although the Navnet system is pretty sophisticated I wanted to keep things looking simple.

What these systems are capable of amazes me. Just yesterday I was looking at the Flir system and how that can be interfaced with the navnet 3d screen where it would provide a "cone" indicator on the screen so you could see where the system was aimed.

    It's unreal.

Quest, those ladder hand holds going up the sides are nice. I wouldn't feel comfortable traversing the broken shear area without them. The tower builder did a nice job. They even backed the front legs with heavy duty custom aluminum brackets. it's all of those little things that make a good tower. I've been talking to the guy that did the canvas. I'm going to have him make wings to come off the back and finish off at the break of shear. That will keep any side wind out of the cockpit on the cold spring days.

Now my next task is to buy all of the rods and reels. My old Shimano stuff isn't going to cut it. Although I have 2 nice 80 series reels that saw very little use and those will be converted over to swordfishing rigs. At the moment I'm leaning towards Avet reels.

Have you checked out the visibility on the MFD-12 in the tower. Might have a problem in direct sunlight.
