    Performance Trailers

Not sure where to post this, figured this would be as good as any... Does anyone have experience with this trailer company (Performance Trailers). They are of Texas I believe. I was not able to find much online about them, wondering if they are junk or decent... Thanks.

There are tons of trailer manufacturers

I am not sure what type of trailer they build never heard of them but I am not local to that area and wouldn't know.

What style of trailer are you looking at to purchase? Roller, Bunk, Tandem, Triple axle.

Also depends on what kind of boat are you putting on it. Like certain boats should only be put on bunk.

How much trailer time do you have is it local? or long distance? Tire size, brakes and ratings are important

There is many different things to look for in a good quality trailer.

Not doing much trailering at all, mostly local. I found this one (bunk style) brand new and for a good price. It is rated for the boat I will be trailering and has breaks (which I need). Just wondering what their reputation is. Being from the northeast I have never heard of them either...
    Thanks for the input Mary.

Its really tough to tell a good one from a bad one.

There is so many things that you need to consider and look at.

Some of the big differences to consider is how many cross members are in the trailer. Without comparing it side by side to a reputable trailer its nearly impossible to understand.

We flipped our dealings a few months ago, back to company that was used a few years ago.

Some of the noticeable differences in these trailers from the normal ones we use is.

Additional support cross members to support the load. The physical bunks have been angled to make loading and unloading much easier. You don't have to float the trailers as much as we used to. Physical eyelets and custom brackets made for tie downs, front and back. One of my favorite features is the led turn signal on the front of the fender, so when you are driving you can tell if your signals are working and on etc.

With boats and trailers pricing is set to cost of materials, and workmanship. Everyone has their costs and profits. If there is a significant price tag difference, it normally means a difference in materials and workmanship. As well as components such as axles and breaks.

Its a lot to figure out and it takes some time but with trailers you want to purchase one and only one. Some of the problems with manufacturing that I have seen is welds snapping do to insufficient support. Axles dragging due to improper weight, and sizing. Abnormal tire wear the list goes on.

I would waste my time or money on a myco or a continental...those people need to wake up..there is much better trailers out there for 1/2 to 3/4 of the price and better quality.

I sell trailers as well, if you drop me an email with the boat and specs I can size up a price on a few that I deal with.

I always try to go with names I know in the business just because of their quality and reputation. Not to mention warranty of certain parts as well.

Hope this helps some and does not add confusion
