Orkot composite bearings instead of older rubber cutlass bearings.

    Help
Does any one here have any 1st hand knowledge with the Orkot composite bearings? (cutlass bearings)
    Cost of the bearings?
    What is the lifespan?
    Where can I purchase them?
    And any other useful info.
    Thanks for your help.

    Maritex yes, not Orkot

I noticed this was posted a long time ago, but it still comes up in searches so thought some people might be interested.

Maritex is a straight replacement for rubber cutless bearings, and offers a number of benefits. It is also the only marine bearing that inhibits marine growth on the shaft or in the bearing. There have been reports of better performance and less vibration but these were owners impressions not scientific tests.

They are used on shafts that run up to 12,000rpm and are available for shafts to over 22".

Bedded on epoxy they give you a chance to confirm the strut alignment.

You mentioned Orkot, which is another type of composite, each type has quite different properties. We supply Maritex in the UK and are happy to be compared to Orkot, Thordon, Railko and Vesconite cutless bearing materials.

Any questions do a search for Maritex, Perth and contact the factory.
