No Picture Frames. That's My .02! For what it is worth, I think You will see more of the clean "No-frame" look on Sportfish. By the way, that pit is huge! She is lookin' good.

Ok So far we're 10 for Picture frame, 4 opposed and 1 in the middle and Capt. Vinny is getting flash backs to days gone by over that psychedelic gaff, which is cool by the way, Prime Time.

Thanks for the input gents and no harm no foul on that IPS thread and I hope it goes all ways.

The hinge system we have is a recessed hinge with the fasteners located under the hatch. Smooth on top. Imports from Italy.

Rocksandblues, I want something that stands apart in subtle ways so the “fancy cruiser” look may accomplish that.

PurpleGold, I’m still up in the air about the chair. A new Unlimited Release Chair loaded retails for $15,900.

The lumber is being selected tomorrow so I have time to seek ideas and comments and they are appreciated.

So keep on posting.

that cockpit is hugh........

since its bigger than any ive seen, i say, picture frame. they lay out the frame first then space the boards to fit full boards changing the gap between i think. do you know what i mean? ask the installer if that is so, you want to eliminant as many slivers, if you know what i mean. you want full 2 1/2 inch boards. but i agree, that boat will be beautiful with teak. its so big, you wont even know im on board.

My two cents, As an ex-shipwright I would go for a single frame, not double as in the first pic, for looks. Also if you dont pictureframe them the end grain, although sealed, would tend to decay a lot faster. Framing a hatch makes a stronger hatch.

FGO, I prefer the forward to aft lay-out I think it is a much cleaner look with the expansion chaulk all running the same direction, also for sanding and cleaning the deck the grain is all running the same direction, also the framing around the perimeter is awesome and very functional for cleaning and sanding down the road, it keeps the sanders away from all the glass around the edge of the deck!!

picture lame teak deck

If you decide to put in the picture frame teak deck I don't think you should bother with the fighting chair. You should have release build you a nice teak cocktail table with martini glass holders.. all varnish of course. Then you won't have to worry about the picture frames being scratched up, unless your boyfriend is dressed in his high heels when he comes over for cocktails! Make sure to order the table with clear non-skid glaze and a no bolt pedistal.

I like the picture frames......it adds dimension and style to a pit. Picture frame everything in the floor and chase the perimeter also as stated above

I'd go with the picture frames. with a big pit, it breaks up the monontony (sp) and adds good dimension and contrast to it. plus its different
