opinions on Sea Pro, Sea Hunt, Sailfish and Sea Fox Center Consoles

I am in the process of buying my first center console fishing boat. I am new to offshore fishing, so i want a reliable boat at an affordable price. Looking for a 21'-23' boat (Sea Pro, Sea Hunt and SailFish) and all three of these brands seem to be in my price range but i don't know much about them outside of the general info from the websites. Is there any owners out there that might be able to give me the pros & cons? Also Sea Fox seems to be a very affordable boat but im sure that there is something that makes up for the difference in price , any owners out there that could fill me in? Best size outboard for this size as well as brand of choice? Thanks

I know alot of people get off bashing Sea Fox's but I feel like they supply alot of boat for the money.

The fit, finish, hardware etc aren't on par with Contender, Grady, Yellow Fin etc, but they aren't priced like them either.

Don't write off the Sea Fox too fast if you are on a tight budget.

I buddy of mine has a 23 Sea Fox and I'll justify TD on the fit and finish of these boats. They have quality hinges, latches, doors, covers. They have big live wells, big fish storage, and plenty of storage. Sailfish are made for fisherman in the way that they are set up. Look at the lay out of both of these boats and you will easily fall for both of 'em. The only difference that I have noticed is that Sea Fox offers twins and I don't think that Sailfish does. I really don't think that you will be happy with a Sea Pro.

fwiw ive heard nothing but good things about sailfish but cannot substantiate from my own experiance (on any of them). anyway they are basically a seacraft knockoff with a proven hull design- look at em all, take a testride on other than lake water (1 to 2' is a good start). if the company wont let you have a sea trial prior to putting down any $$$$, walk away. good luck - craig

Don't know abot the rest but I've got a 23' SeaPro CC and love it. Actually it's the second SeaPro I've owned, had a 21' SV2100CC bay boat but wanted a boat I could take offshore. The 23' footer rides dry handles rough seas well and the overall finish is pretty good for the price. I've got a single 225 4-stroke and regularly go 20-30 miles offshore, weather permitting of course.

Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
Others

I would compare these to Privateer, Kencraft and Parker before making a move. If I were looking in that range I would be shopping for a kencraft.

Cool

I have a 17 foot sea pro for my skiff. It is a great hull and I use the shit out of it. No stress cracks in four years. No real problems. Very stable bay boat. No warranty problems. All in all a real value. Good luck

While I don't know anything first hand about the others I'd have to recommend Trophy as another brand to take a look at. They're also a mid tier boat that is well built and you get a lot for your money. Take a test ride on one at your local dealer.

I like a Trophy and almost bought one a while back. The reason I passed was because the only motor you could get on the Trophy is a Merc. I much prefer Suzuki's over Merc's so that killed the Trophy for me.

I had a 2000 17' Sea Hunt CC and it was a great boat for the money. I sold it this year and it didn't have a stress crack on it. A friend of mine just got a 21' Sailfish CC that I went fishing on this past Sunday. Don't tell him I said this, but I think it may be better quality than the Sea Hunt. I think the Sail Fish does cost more that the Sea Hunt though. For the money you can't beat the Sea Hunt and if that's what you can afford, you won't be sorry.
