Thanks for the additional pics. I forgot how blunt the bow is on that sucker.
I remembering talking with Mabry Edwards about this boat when we did a repower there about 8 years ago. He had a lot to do with the design of the boat... especially the bottom. I remember him saying she was built in NC and I sure thought he said it was at Sportsman's although that may have been after Omie left. This boat certainly is somewhat of a bastardized combo of Carolina and Fla design... pretty much a Florida boat built in NC. I sure enjoyed chatting with Mabry while we were in the yard... lots of stories and boat-building knowledge. When did he pass away?

    Mabry Edwards

He passed away I guess about a year or so ago. He was always interesting to chat with and of course some folks would tell you he claimed to give Jim Smith and some of the Rybo's some tips. He was a very bright fellow with an interesting life. One of my friends said Omie had some comments about building a boat with Mabry hanging around (he could drive you nuts). Hopefully someone here will have more info about this one.

    Never a doubt

I can't really help ID the boat from the pics, but if it is the Never A Doubt it was built by my Father in Law Tom Daughtry when he owned Sportsman.

    Never a Doubt

I may have some pictures of the Never a Doubt. If I can find them I will upload them. I also have a ton of pics from the Sea Hag, The Brothers Pride, The Chelsea, The Anxious, and The Pescador(Tom's pride and joy) All of these were built durring Tom's time as owner of Sportsman.

Hull doesnt look like a Sportsman, unless its one of the first ones. Sportsmans(Omie) have a longer, more gentle broken shearline if my memory serves me correct. Everytime I see the Barbara B, I find it amazing it was built in 1974. I dare say shes the prettiest carolina boat ever built and was about 20 years ahead of her time.

Here are some of the better pictures I have of the old girl. These were taken just after completion.

45 ft express kept at hatteras marlin club. Until a storm destroyed the boat according to Homer Styles from the hatteras marlin club. I know the boat was a sportsman because the owner told me more then once. It might have been during one of the changes in owners.

There was very recently an Omie-boat for sale out of Wrightsville Beach called "Salvation". I was told an Omie-built boat. Very nice and in need of a repower but sweet lines. I guess she was re-named because Salvation is not on the list.
