If it does it sounds like you have 2 90 gal tanks and it is drawing out of both unless you have a switch valve between the tanks and the fuel filter. The Parker I fish on has 2 50 gal tanks in the floor and 2 20 gal saddle tanks under the gunwales and a switch valve to change it from the floor to the saddles and back. I would think this boat woud draw out of both so your boat doesn't have an unequal distribution of weight.

Our 31 is tripple tanked... The 27 I work on has actually four...
    The 23 is single...

The 31 has seperate guages... Center is on the main Yamaha guage... Saddles each have their own.

The 27 has main also on Yamaha guage. Theres a switch there though to read the forward small tank. The saddles each have their own.

Im sure ten seconds on board you'll have it figured out... I'm thinking the old ones had 160 and 25 gallons... I could be wrong.

Since shes a Contender you may be wrong at your speed guess of 25 for comfortable... Contenders are notorious for being better the faster that go. The ones I run hop and bop at 24 but when we get up around 29 they smooth right out. Ful consumption actually goes down when running up top like that too.

Well, thanks. That's all good news. I remember having to learn to pay attention to fuel management when I went from Cessnas to Pipers....I prefer less things to worry about. This boat has one fuel guage, one fuel filler, and my confusion is two hoses going into the filter. But if it draws equally, everything starts to make sense.

And if running at 30 is smoother than 25, thats better news yet!

We will still plan on stopping at the same places, but we will have more time for breakfast and looking around. Instead of running six hours per day I can run for 5. I like it.

are ya sure the boat has both a main and an aux tank ??? reason i ask is,i've never seen a single fuel fill for 2 tanks-i could be wrong here but....
also, just as i explained to you,you need to seperate the tanks, atttempting to run off both tanks is asking for trouble, the smaller aux tank will clearly be consumed first, leaving a potential problem of the engine sucking air-end result-blown power head, due to detonation, fuel starved condition...

almost all thier tanks were made by sunshine also.

if you have no luck with contender (which I think you would get anything you needed even wiring diagram and stringers from them) call Lucy she would know what tanks down to the make of the sedure used in the tank.

Thanks, I did get a reply from an individual at Contender. I had hoped for a manual or some kind of diagrams, but at least I learned that it is a single, 180 gallon tank. They ran two fuel lines from it to the stern in case someone wanted to put twins on the boat.

Hey, our whole planned trip from Miami to Providenciales in the boat just got cancelled, so it's now essentially a non-issue. But good to know.

Bummer, yes, in many senses. I was planning it as well as I could, and was down to figuring out places to stay the next to last stop in the Bahamas. Mayaguana was the last stop before the hop over to Provo ( 45 miles). I was looking for a place on Long Cay, or Aklins/Crooked Island area...when the phone rang.

The port manager for the shipping company called me and said he had gotten the price of the shipping for boat and trailer from his first price of $ 13K down to $6K, which included insurance.

I was looking at an estimated $ 4K cost of our trip, plus another $ 4K to ship the trailer. And of course there were inherent risks in the trip, from the mild ( stuck extra days waiting out weather in hotels along the way) to the medium (equipment issues along the way) to the more serious potential risks in a trip of that length in an unfamiliar boat in unfamiliar waters.

So with the safest way also being the cheapest...it really becomes a no-brainer. We will just have to schedule some different adventures once we get our "new" boat down here.

That's okay. We can do that.
