O-SEA-D Electronics Update

Hey everyone, how's it going?

I just bought a Garmin 2210 Chartplotter last week. I recieved it yesterday in the mail.

I had a Garmin 162 Chartplotter for about 4 years now. It is a small black and white unit. I love it, but I was just ready for something bigger. (the story of my life)

The before picture is the install I did about 8 months ago when I added the Radar. I had to completly refabricate a new flush mount panel out of Starboard. I used 1/2" just like what was there before.

I kept the Raymareine DS600X Hidef Color Sounder, JRC Color Radar/ Chartplotter and the 2 Standard radios. I love the Raymarine Sounder. The only thing I don't like about it is the TM transducer. I seem to keep breaking the mounting brackets. Its only about 1/8" below the hull too. Other than that it marks awesome and has a great picture. Hydra Sports does not recommend using a Thru-hull. The JRC Radar/ Chartplotter is another great unit. I was very surprised how well the radar works. It marks all the markers and pilings and even the small floating buoys. I really only use it for close up night time navigation.

I also mad some modifications to the door slide so it goes back further now. I also gave it a center support built into the flush mount panel to take the sag out of the center of the door like you see in the first picture.

Anyways, to make a long story short, The only thing I changed was the chartplotter. I finished mounting the radios tonight and put the entire thing back in the boat. Now I have to run the new GPS antenna and hook everything back up. I also will be mounting my 4 Flowscan switches above my Raymarine sounder up out of the way. I also need to trim the black silicone around the electronics box after it dries.

Here is a before and after shot.

What do ya think?

Thanks guys, I think it came out ok. I was not too sure about the radios though. However, I think they look ok like that. I like to have my stuff right there in front of me.

Lou, I am ready to get out there an kill some stuff. We have a charter on Friday and Saturday if the weather will let us go.

No doubt you'll love it. I have to do the double radio thing. Fernando worked on my POS raymarine auto pilot this week. He found some stuff, so hopefully its straight.

Dang good looking job there O-sea-d. How much do you charge for your services. I have to put my furuno 1650 on my new boat along with an extra radio.

Looks sweet!

Can you see those VHF screens with polarized sunglasses on? Or do you have to tilt your head to read them?
