    O/B Engine problem

Well I went out today to get everything squared away on the boat and fire it up for the first time this year. Tested both batteries and got 12.3 on each, everything on the boat works (horn, radar, gps, FF, bilge, etc.), no blown fuses, but for some reason the tilt on the motor isn't working and when the key is turned to the on position I got nothing, no gauges, tach, etc. Am thinking that it's a bad ignition, however not sure that would explain the tilt on the motor not working. Any ideas?

    It's a 2002 Yamaha 200hp OX-66.

Try removeing and cleaning the terminals at the battery. I had a simular problem last week had 12 volts at the guage but when i turned the key all i got was the starter spinning with out the bendix engaging. Cleaned the battery terminals and all is good.

not the ignition switch...the tilt and trim is "hot" all the time...when ever the battery switch is on,it's hot,it should work...
now, check power at the connection on the engine, where the battery cbale mounts up on the starter solenoid, you got power there, only thing it can be is the splice in the harness on the back of the engine...there's gonna be a 3 way splice in the power wire on the back of the power head...the harness is taped together, you need to remove the tape -the splice shold be in the area of the starboard cylinder head, again,on the lower cowl, not up top...if you do not understand what i'm typing, stop, take the boat to a qualified service center...you need to repair that splice-it's gonna be corroded...this is the problem...

I lost my password so I made a new one temp. Anyway does the engine crank over and were the batts removed for winter storage? If so when installing the batts it is possible you missed the engine ground wire, sometimes when people have mechanical/electrical problems they "read" into it to much. Always check the basics first.
